Dangers of Talibanisation of Pakistan

YES. PAKISTAN is in danger of mammoth proportions. Time is short .
Pakistani army , civil government and the saner people must come together immediately to face the most likely fall out of a Talibanised Afghanistan.

Over three million Afghan refugees are aleady in Pakistan since four decades, and most of them have Pakistani papers and documents. Then there is the second generation of Afghans born and brought up in Pakistan.

Not only have all girls’ schools closed down, there are reports that Taliban is demanding that a list be prepared in every village of girls over 15 years of age and widows. They expect these villagers to hand over these women to ‘those fighting jihad in Allah’s cause’ .

Pakistan is a country with a population of 20 crores+, and there is no chance of Pakistan being taken over by Taliban (physically) which is still an Afgan phenomenon. However Talibanisation of the Pakistani psyche #, especially in FATA and Swat areas presents a grave danger to its very existence as a civilised state.

In fact, Pakistani army has been a parent of Taliban, having conceived and given birthby partnering with USA in the eighties. A complete generation grew up on stories of Jihad and heady Islamic conquests.

Pakistani Army continued to nourish Taliban during and after its eviction from Afghanistan in 2001. During the last three decades many Pakistanis especially from the NWFP, swat valley have joined the ranks of Taliban.

There are news reports that over 7200 Pakistanis, from Je M and TTP have moved to Afghanistan to join the Taliban forces in their latest attempt to dislodge the elected government of Afghanistan.

Some bodies of those who were killed have already returned to Peshawar.*

However over the decades the extremist and obscurantist views of Islam have percolated deeply and infected the socio political systems and thought processes. In other words majority of the citizenry of Pakistan has been imbued with notion of Jihad as a way of life and terrorism as a justified tool in international relations. Many even in the elite circles, support the idea that USA is the root cause for the rise of militant organisations along with Musharraff’s pro US policies post 9/11.

There are still a few sane voices and mature minds in Pakistan. How long they will be able to withstand the combined onslaught of obscurantist mullahs and rabble rousers is a big question mark.

Dangers of Talibanisation of Pakistan

The ideas of Taliban will speed up Pakistani slide towards becoming a country of extremists, terrorists and maniacs. Sharia law as will be imposed.

Pakistan will be converted into an abattoir of innocents by Pakistani Army and the Taliban.

Bomb blasts, murders, mayhem and barbaric acts against Shias, Ahmadis, Baluchis and minorities, especially women and children will become the norm.

NEED FOR COMMON APPROACH

There is an immediate need for the Pakistani army, civil government, Political parties and the the people of Pakistan to come together. They need to work out a common stand to face the extreme danger that will be the result of Taliban taking over Afghanistan by itself or with the help of ISIS.
